A small crew. Two trucks. Twenty-seven years of concrete.
How Efalata started
In 1998 we started pouring driveways around Fairfield for family. A wheelbarrow, a mixer, and a couple of neighbors who needed work done. Word got around because when you say you will show up on Tuesday at 7, you should probably show up on Tuesday at 7.
The first customer who became a repeat customer is still a repeat customer. Mrs. Jimenez on Pennsylvania Ave has had us back four times in 20 years. That is the kind of business we wanted to build.
Efalata is our family name. It means something to us. It is on the trucks and it is on the invoice because if we screw it up, our name is attached to it. That is the whole reason it is not called "Fairfield Concrete Pros LLC" or whatever the marketing book says.
How we work
We are a four-man crew. Two cousins and two guys who have been with us 10+ years. We do not use day labor. We do not sub out the pour. If you called for an estimate, the guy who showed up to measure is the guy running the pour.
Our day starts at 6:45 at the yard. We load the trucks, drive to the job, and we are on-site by 7:15. If the forecast is bad we call you by 6:30 and reschedule. We do not pour in the rain unless it is a covered pour.
The business is small on purpose. We turn down a few jobs every month because we cannot get to them inside two weeks and we would rather say no than say yes and be late.
About the Efalata name
Efalata is our mother's maiden name. She passed in 2014. The business is named after her side because she told us, when we were deciding whether to stick with concrete or go do something else, that it is an honest trade and we should stick with it if we liked it. We liked it. We are still here.
What we are not
We are not the cheapest. We are not fancy. We do not have a sales office or a yard sign crew. If you want a 30-minute consultation with a "project manager", we are probably not your guys. You will talk to whoever answered the phone, and it will take five minutes.
